Warburton's bakery staff have put their support behind a campaign to reduce the number of falls in the workplace.
IOSH courses students may already know about the Shattered Lives programme from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), which seeks to cut the number of slips, trips and falls at work.
The Newburn bakery in Newcastle is currently being upgraded to include new non-slip flooring and mobile step platforms, which make it safer to work at height.
A new high-level walkway has also been installed at the plant, which the company hopes will help to keep injuries caused by falls from height to a minimum.
David Cole, HSE principal inspector for the north-east, said: "It's great that Warburton's is backing the campaign and is helping its employees understand and control the potential for slips, trips and falls to happen."
In 2008-09, 10,000 employees suffered a major injury as a result of a slip or fall at work, with the industry body offering to give companies free danger signs to warn workers of hazards.
