Companies should be encouraged to pass on information about staying safe at work in order to reduce the number of accidents, it has been stated.
Launching a new initiative, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has called for the information learned during training, such as IOSH courses, to be effectively passed around a business using the latest technology.
With many firms connected to the internet, there is plenty of opportunity for them to contact their workers via email and RSS feeds about how to stay safe.
In a recent workshop 'Safety Alerts: Everyone has a role to play - what's yours?', the HSE encouraged participants to think of how they could improve their safety alert system.
HSE chair Judith Hackitt said: "We are initiating a better, joined up approach to sharing information that will help towards reducing death and injury at work."
Last year alone in the UK, 180 people were killed while at work, with a further 131,895 injuries, according to the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations (RIDDOR).
