Construction students are to receive advice on wellbeing in the workplace from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and several firms about the importance of minimising on-site risks.
Despite having studied construction at Salford University, the students may be advised about how further working safely training could help them, with the HSE stressing that workplace safety is their priority.
A group of 300 undergraduates will be addressed by representatives from the industry safety body, Mott MacDonald, Shepherd Construction and Bovis Lend Lease.
Bill Dixon, HSE construction inspector in the north-west, is set to speak at the event.
He said that he hopes the talk will encourage better health and safety practices and reduce the number of deaths and injuries on sites in the future.
The construction industry is one of Britain's biggest employers, with 2.2 million people working in the field. However, over the past 25 years there have been over 2,800 recorded deaths, with many more falling ill or being injured while at work.
