A gas fitter has been given a suspended jail sentence for carrying out work illegally in several properties.
Working safely courses may promote the importance of being properly trained to carry out your duties, with Brian Lloyd of Osset in Yorkshire being found to not have the proper Gas Safe Register certification.
Mr Lloyd carried out work in three properties and was filmed as part of the BBC series Rogue Traders for installing gas devices when his Gas Safe registration had expired.
HSE inspector Andrew Denison said that by stating that he was on the approved list of gas fitters when he was not served not only to deceive members of the public, it also put their lives at risk.
"We urge homeowners to be on guard and make sure that all gas fitters are registered and safe to work in their home," he added.
Consumers can find out more about the Gas Safe Register through its website, with fitters in Northern Ireland required by law to be included in the official list by April 1st 2010.
