A construction company has been fined after one of its employees suffered skull injuries following an accident.
While driving a cherry picker, the worker went over a concealed manhole cover, which gave way under the vehicle and caused it to topple over.
The man suffered serious injuries to his back, skull and legs as a result of the incident, a point which may interest those on health and safety courses.
Furthermore, the reaching arm of the cherry picker fell forward and landed in Milton Street in central Nottingham, an area that is frequently busy with other cars and pedestrians.
Shepherd Construction, which is based in York, was fined £20,000 plus costs by Nottingham Magistrates' Court.
Health and Safety Executive inspector Martin Giles said: "The company failed to put in place adequate measures to find and record where the manholes and service covers were around the site."
In January, Meldrum Construction Services was fined after a worker was injured when a fork-lift truck overturned.
