NVQs in Occupational Health & Safety

Those wishing to attain either the NVQ Level 3 in Occupational Health and Safety or Level 4 in Occupational Health and Safety Practice may do so through ‘B&H Training’, a City and Guilds approved centre. A director of Safetycor Ltd is an assessor with ‘B&H Training’ and through their auspices able to assess candidates for both these awards. Please contact us if you need further details.

Manual Handling
IOSH Managing Safely

IOSHEssentially, IOSH Managing Safely is a four-day awareness course for managers and supervisors introducing them to many of the health and safety issues that could affect their team. The interactive format is similar to that of the Working Safely programme except, of course, the subjects are covered in a little more depth. We can deliver the IOSH Managing Safely course over a week (the standard format) or over two or more weeks (for local venues only).
Those who successfully complete the multiple-choice/short answer and practical papers are awarded an IOSH certificate in Managing Safely.

  • Module 1 - Introducing Managing Safely
  • Module 2 - Assessing risks
  • Module 3 - Controlling risks
  • Module 4 - Understanding your responsibilities
  • Module 5 - Identifying hazards
  • Module 6 - Investigating accidents and incidents

IOSH Working Safely

IOSH Working Safely is a one-day health and safety awareness course aimed primarily at those who do not have supervisory or managerial positions; although the latter often find this a useful introductory programme. This new version is proving to be highly popular, owing to its highly interactive structure.

Those who successfully complete the multiple-choice and practical papers can choose either an IOSH Working Safely certificate or an IOSH Passport card.

The main subject areas are as follows:

  • Module 1 - Introducing working safely
  • Module 2 - Defining hazard and risk
  • Module 3 - Identifying common hazards
  • Module 4 - Improving safety performance
  • Module 5 - Protecting our environment

Manual Handling
IOSH Managing Safely in the World of Work (Open Distance Learning)

IOSHWe are accredited by IOSH to deliver this programme. This course covers the effective management of Health and Safety at work. The IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) Managing Safely programme is an integral part of this course.

‘IOSH Managing Safely in the World of Work’ aims to teach supervisors and managers how to control hazards and reduce risks in the workplace as part of an effective Health and Safety management system.

Many find the flexibility of this open distance learning course attractive. We agree a completion programme to suit your work, and other, commitments. However, you should comfortably complete the course within 4 months.

The course induction comprises a brief face to face meeting. This is followed by your completion of the seven main sections of the programme by open distance learning | Click Here

Your assigned tutor will provide feedback on each of these, to help build your knowledge. Assignments and feedback are communicated by conventional mail.

At the end of the programme you will need to complete a final assessment. This comprises two parts:

  1. A short test of the knowledge you have gained through this course.
  2. A practical assessment that includes a risk assessment of your place of work

Manual Handling

The aim of this half-day course is to provide delegates with sufficient knowledge, understanding, and practical skills to undertake manual handling tasks in a safe manner.

This course can be tailored to specific company requirements and held on-site, for in-company programmes.

Our course tutor is a registered health professional with over 20 years of practical manual handling experience and holds current health authority certification to teach manual handling.

Patient Handling (Safetycor Ltd In-House Course)

Safetycor provides two types of patient handling course:

  • An annual half-day refresher
  • A full-day course for new staff

The aim of these courses is to provide delegates with sufficient knowledge, understanding, and practical skills to undertake patient handling tasks in a safe manner.  

These courses can be tailored to specific care/residential home and hospital requirements and need to be held on-site using your equipment.

Our course tutor is a registered health professional with over 20 years of practical patient handling experience.
In addition, our tutor holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Clinical Education and current health authority certification to teach patient handling.
